The Indian Institute of Islamic Studies and Research (IIISR), New Delhi, hosted a distinguished guest lecture by Dr. Javed Akhtar Sahib, a renowned cardiologist from London, UK, on 23rd September 2025 at 10:15 AM in the Afzal Hussain Auditorium.

The program commenced with a soulful recitation of the Holy Quran. Professor Haseeb Ahmed, Director of IIISR, extended a warm welcome to Dr. Akhtar and provided an overview of the institute’s academic and research initiatives. Mr. Anis Ur Rahman Nadvi formally introduced the guest speaker to the audience.

Dr. Akhtar engaged with students in a thought-provoking session centered on “The Importance of Being a True Muslim in Letter and Spirit”, emphasizing the need to maintain a harmonious balance in relationships—with family, society, and fellow citizens. His insights were both inspiring and intellectually enriching.

The event was presided over by Dr. Hasan Raza, Chairman of the Islami Academy Trust. Mr. Farhan, Secretary of the Student Union, delivered the vote of thanks, while Mr. Sk. Rahil, a research trainee, efficiently compered the program. The lecture was attended by students, faculty members, and notable guests including Dr. Shahid Jamal, former Director Centre for West Asian Studies JMI, making it a memorable and impactful academic gathering.
